Shown here is a line-up of A6M5 Navy Type O Fighter Model 52 Reisens (Zero Fighters) being prepared prior to taking-off on a mission. Note the 330 litre (72.6 Imp gal) drop tank underneath the fuselage belly. Also of note is the fact that although the pilots are wearing lif-jackets the Japanese never wore parachutes throughout the Pacific War.
