Shown here are Ki-84-1a Army Type 4 Fighter Model 1As of the 101st Sentai preparing for take-off during the defence of Okinawa. Formed in the latter aprt of 1944 with the 102nd Sentai, the unit had particular success in attacks, both day and night, on American airfields in Northern Okinawa.
