Shown here is a mixed formation of fighter aircraft seen in flight on 16th September, 1942, and employed by the ECFS (Empire Central Flying School) at Hullavington, Wilts. Nearest the camera is Hurricane Mk.I , (Z 4791), which spent most of its existence serving in a training role., behind the Hurricane are two Spitfire Mk.IIs, the nearest (P7926) 'Hereward the Wake' was a presentation aircraft and served with Nos. 610, 130, 411, 121 and 340 Sqds and with No. 53 OTU.
