I would have to say its a toss up between a P51 and a Corsair. Both send chills up my spine whenever I see one. Question... Why were only radial engines used for carrier based operations? It doesn't seem there were any V-powered engines that were ever used on carriers. Fighter planes, that is. If my assessment is true, why not? One of our surgeons who was a phantom pilot in Vietnam can't even answer this one....
