Tuskegee Airmen. The Red Tails - WWII In Their Own Words.
The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces. During World War II, black Americans in many U.S. states were still subject to the Jim Crow laws and the American military was...
This is a very long stretch but lets see where it takes us. I was reading up on the K-14 gunsight that was used in the P-51 Mustang and I had a few thoughts about it. Number one was what if we put the same type of sights on a turret on any type of bomber. Would they still work as intended or...
This little event, which started out as just a static display of a few warbirds, has gradually morphed into a full fledged airshow. This year for the first time I brought a nice camera and got some decent photos. There were several interesting Warbirds flying this year including a P-63...

Hi all, I was just wondering if any of you could help identify the planes that were used in the filming of the 1990 film Memphis Belle?
I've already identified the B-17s but looking for assistance on the other aircraft, here's the list that I've managed to put together from various sources but...
Has anyone seen the movie "Saving Private Ryan? I just watched it again last night and I noticed near the end of the movie when the Mustangs are flying over shooting up the Germans, Capt. Miller asked what they were. One of his troops says "they're P-51 tank busters, sir." Was this some kind of...
I share with you some photos showing P-51 Mustangs on aircraft carriers. There was a naval version of this plane? To see the photos, visit the link below:

Cheers.
The link below brings some photos of a P-51 Mustang applied with an experimental paint scheme. Does anyone know the name or if this cammo was used operationally?
Aviação em Floripa: P-51 Mustang em camuflagem exótica
I count on your visit.
Did the US spread its resources too thin on four (five including the P-51) fighters?
Should the US have concentrated resources on one or two, rather than four/five?
The P-51 probably fits into this equation as well.
The P-51 probably could have have accomplished the work of all four/five.
PS...
Hi, friends!
I'm very sorry if I chose the wrong section for this thread.
For several days I rack my brains trying to reach a consensus on Hispano armed Mustangs (P-51 and F-6A). Are all of them were sent to ETO&MTO? As I know, several reconnaissance groups used F-6 on CBI. Were they only F-6B...
One of the major advantages to the P-51 was the laminar flow wing. So, instead of developing a whole new plane, would it have been cheaper to just put that wing on a P-40 and also given the same upgraded engines the P-51 had ? Would that big chin of the Warhawk still be a hindrance?
