Thanks George. The airbrush and compressor are timber tech too! Cheepo set up I got from Amazon to see if I could hack using it. I got gloss Windsor and Newton varnish off Amazon too.

Hi Terry the MK2 is a nice kit similar to the IX which I built with my son. I hope your hands improve soon. I'd like to see what you make of it.

Pics below of the Revell Mk.IX done as a Mk,VIII, and the subject for the Mk.II kit. Well-known shot of a 72 Sqn Spit II over the Northumberland coast, returning to RAF Acklington, which was my "local" RAF airfield when I was a youngster.

 
Nice the Mk II will make a nice companion for the mark VIII.

Nearly ready for painting! The front canopy really didn't want to fit. I had to spend quite a bit of time and effort getting it in place. Problem is that allthe canopy parts are a wee bit too narrow for the fuselage so I had to carefully file then down a fair bit. I have still to do the armour windscreen as it's a separate part. Other than that I've assembled the wheels and legs, prepped the exhaust Stubbs and fitted the oil filter and radiator both of which were a bit fiddly to assemble.

Next stop the airbrush and typically the temperature has dropped so I'll need to preheat the workshop before I start painting in earnest.

Looks good. Windscreens can be a make or break on a model. I've only done a couple but I like the clear parts that include part of the fuselage so that if there's a misfit it can be fixed away from the windscreen

Absolutely agree George I'm prone to getting a bit of "fog" due to adhesive issues. Hopefully I'll avoid that with this one.
 
First bit of dirt added via a pin wash to highlight the panel lines and rivets. I've since added a gloss protective coating prior to masking the underside. Upper colours next.



Followed by oil and smoke stains etc.
