Recently completed this one, it has Ultracast seat with belts, quickboost hollow exhaust pipes, Eduard photoetched cockpit details. I added the antenna wire with ez line and scratch built the pylon and sway braces for the 100# bombs.
Ubiquitous P-40... Great painting with Polish touch (I assume RAF 112 sqn, and Flying Tigers).
Really good model, congrats!
I wonder if I could find decals for 1:72 ?.
Hi Hal,
I'm not sure if Hasegawa did these markings in 1/72, but these were the kit markings, and I know that they also did these markings in 1/32 scale. Do a google search for hasegawa curtiss 15,000 1/72 or some similar search.
Yes the 1/48, 1/72 and 1/32 all have Cartograph decals. The 1/48 ones were nice but very thick for the brand and didn't settle into the panel lines well, even with micro sol and solvaset. Took quite a few coats of clear gloss and semi gloss to blend the decals into the olive drab paint, even with a gloss base coat.
Excellent work! I well remember seeing this plane with all the insignia illustrated on the cover of a book in my local library when I was a kid in the 1960s. Perhaps it was a Harlyford book.
