CVG-14 aboard the USS Ranger, CVA-61, 04 April 1959. A U.S. Navy Douglas AD-5 Skyraider (BuNo. 134976) from Attack Squadron 85 (VA-85) taxies forward after landing on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVA-11) on 20 April 1956. Note the squadron insignia under the cockpit . VA-85 was assigned to Carrier Air Group 8 (CVG-8) aboard the Intrepid for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 12 March to 5 September 1956.

Narrative:
Airborne at 17:13 from RAF Pocklington. Last heard on W/T at 18:13 reporting that the Wellington was returning to base with engine trouble. While doing so the starboard engine caught fire and the bomber crashed in the sea. The two survivors spent fourteen hours in the dinghy before being picked up by a RN destroyer. Both were admitted to Sheppey County Hospital suffering from severe frostbite and superficial injuries
