Just got this one done yesterday.
I had posted a query in the "Painting" section asking how to remove chrome.
Have yet to weather and drybrush it, but I wanted to share it.
Got a few "qualifications" to mention:
This was an old model, probably purchased by my buddy 20 years ago or more. He had completed the engine assembly sometime over those years, before giving it to me to finish. He's done so with a few other bike models, and the Kettenkrad. The Harley-Davidson, Triumph, and Zundapp are also pictured.
The cables/fuel line tubing was very hard and brittle, so I substituted black electrical wire insulation, stripping our the copper. (will use it for fly-tying...you know "repurpose and reuse")
Many of the attaching points for the cable had been broken off, or my ham-handedness accomplished that, like on the spark plugs, so no spark plug wires, and the fuel line don't connect to the carburetors. Throttle cable is a dummy. No speedometer cable. The front brake and clutch lines do connect to their proper points.
The panniers were adapted from a 1/9 scale Zundapp WW2 Wehrmacht sidecar bike model. It's old and falling apart, so now it's a parts mule. They are attached impractically to the rear shocks, but it was all I had. The emblems on the side are from another Wehrmacht model, but I don't know which unit they are from.
Rear license decal is for a Luftwaffe vehicle. The little circles with X in the middle do signify some sort of motorcycle company or division. The "Afrika Korps" decals front and back are kind of a whim, but I like that particular logo, so on it went.
After seeing the "13" thread here, I numbered this guy "13"
I cut down the pipes: less restrictive military noise rules, lighter weight, material shortages.
So with all that, the best I can say is it "seeks to suggest a Luftwaffe dispatch rider operating in North Africa". "Suggest" is the operative word here. Take a look:
