From what I remember: It was a beam-riding weapon and, I remember hearing that it had a dedicated beam-emitter that would be slaved to the optical-site. I'm curious why you'd use a dedicated beam-emitter when you have the aircraft's radar (which is probably more powerful), and can work under conditions when an optical site might not work.
