About the NATO reporting names for the Su-27SM and the J-7 (1 Viewer)

I've got some new questions. According to the English Wikipedia entry for the Su-27, its NATO reporting name is Flanker‑E. But isn't Flanker‑E the designation for the Su‑35?


Also, could someone share the NATO reporting name for the J‑7? I've heard it's Fishcan, which is different from the MiG‑21. I only know that the J‑7E is Fishcan‑D. Does anyone know which variants correspond to Fishcan‑A, B, and C?

Flanker-B was the first production variant, the Su-27(no suffix)
Flanker-C = Su-27UB
Flanker-D = Su-27K = Su-33
Flanker-E-1 = Su-27M = Su-35
Flanker-E-2 = Su-37

The source is my old book used when I was servicing in the Polish Air Force for my personal training. As memo serves the JJ-7 and its variants were classified as the MiG-21UM training plane and was of the NATO code Mongol B same like Russian one. Chengdu J-7E was of the NATO code Fishcan D. Not sure abot the J-7G though because there is the "Fishcan" word only for the version in my notes.

Please have a look at my post above. I have edited it a little bit because I have checked on all that in my notebook again. Regarding the Mongol C ... I don't know. But judging by the other sources that's possible. As far as the Q-5 Fantan is concerned .. nothing in my notebook. So I can't help sorry.

And have any reporting name JF-17, chinese trainers JL- a and chinese helicopters Z-

As far as I know the JF-17 doesn't have any NATO reporting code and also the Chinese jet trainers. Regarding the helicopters I read somewhere the Harbin Z-9 got the Haitun name while the Z-5 "inherited" the soviet Mi-4 code Hound. But nothing sure IMHO.

No I haven't heard. But I also read somewhere the Firebird name for the J-10/J-10S. The Y-12 and Y-20 seem to not have any code name.
