Actually, for such an aircraft, we probably don't need wheels to land. Just use a skid.

There isn't enough fuel get up to take-off speed.
Aborting at the end of the runway may be a bit of a problem.

AI would probably have the '163 powered by the tiny prop in the front and a huge wind up elastic rubber band, where the ground crew before every take off, wind up aforementioned elastic rubber band....and off you go!

When they're AI. Count the RR cylinders
Here's one for you. I've been working on refining XP-67 drawings and I had one particular side view that I wanted to sharpen up so that I could check something. The aircraft was off in the distance and so the image was very grainy but I thought I'd run it through the AI editing tool and see what happened. First pass with the tool that's done the best for me in family photos was bizarre, it turned an airplane photo into a closeup of a freckle faced kid somehow. So I switched tools and then the second attempt looked great, only a few obvious errors (including turning a fire extinguisher cart into a person, or maybe 2 people) that I could fix manually. I tried tweaking that image and it immediately went haywire, generating some sort of XP-67/P-61 clone. Tried again and got a P-38 bearing zero resemblance to the original image. Once more, and it popped out a DC-3 in the middle distance with lots of other planes in the background. Then came the XP-67 again, but with some other airplane's wing apparently glued to the bottom of its own wing.
Each time I was starting with the same reference image, so I guess I got lucky with my one semi-usable result. The others are just comical.

As a rough guess (very rough) we are looking at a 22 cylinder radial of two rows judging by the cylinder spacing but since 3 to 4 cylinders are missing and host of push rods it is hard to say. The thing looks like it took major flak damage.
Not sure what the RR engine is.
A V-18? 9 cylinders in each bank?
With 11 down draft carburetors on the top?
AI is fun but it about as factual as a career Politian.
