My laptop started to do ramdom crashes. I tried to work with chatgpt to diagnose the problems. But I feel it has been running around in circles for an hour. It keeps on asking for the same logging output. It did help me on one thing that I hadn't considered though, testing the graphical stack, which indicated that my problem is GPU related.
But you really have to stay on your toes to work with AI. I had to stop it from checking the same thing over and over again (caused by the limit of its "context") and don't let it draw conclusions, but draw your own. My conclusion early on in the process was already that it'sa hardware problem and I have to replace the laptop and after an hour of AI speculating, I still stand by that conclusion.

Ah well, another hour of my life I will not get back.
Why are you asking AI, instead of someone with reasonable computer repair credentials? When I do searches, I blow right past the AI summaries.

My experience with desktops is that random crashes are caused by bad power supplies. My next suspect would be your processor cooling. There are programs that monitor temperatures in your computer. These will help you debug stuff. Maybe you need to pull off a cover and do some vacuuming!

Nah, my first go-to was run memtest.
Easy and free. It is right in the name. RANDOM Access Memory.
Random crashes.
Might be wrong but the price is right. Go to bed and wake up to either a bazillion errors or nothing.

I'm technical enough. I tried all that, monitored the temperature, load testing, vacuumed, although the temperature did not indicate a problem there, checked the power, did all the diagnostics that HP provides. So after trying all that, I decided to give gpt a try. Didn't expect much and was not disappointed.
As I said, it's the gpu, which is build in the cpu (Intel), so vacuuming will not help and it's definitely not the power supply.
