I found an aircraft marking of a horizontal rectangle, red field with narrow white border. The center of the red field has a silhoette of a white elephant that appears to be running. I am dooped to the location. Found on a Nakajimi Ki-43(Oscar). Any takers. I was thinking India?

From your description, it sounds like the original markings used by Thailand, now replaced by roundels in the colours of the national flag.
