thye national museum in canada has some neat birds including a he 162 in its original paint

They have a He-162 at the Deutsches Museum and the Sinsheim Museum as well.

At the Sinsheim Museum though on of my favorite exhibits is the He-111. I like the winter paint that it is in. Really looks neat. The Bf-110 at Sinsheim is also great it is 110G Night Fighter and painted in the really cool Night Fighter scheme.

Another museum that I really liked was the US Army Aviation Museum at Fort Rucker Alabama. It was really great especially for Rotary Wing Buffs like myself.

The ones that I have not seen that I must see real soon are:

Chino
Pensacola
The Airforce Museum at Moody AFB (dont think this is the official Airforce Museum but I have read about it and it must be really great)

Fort Rucker, Pensacola, and Moody AFB. Sounds like your in for a nice tour of the South. If you indeed do that, you might want to drop down and visit Cape Canaveral. I don't think it has an old airplane museum, but it certainly is an historic place. I was fortunate to be able to watch the first night launch of the space shuttle. A stunning sight.

Once, when I was going to my quarters for crew rest at Torrejon AB (Madrid) (we staged at Torrejon in the C-141), I saw fuselage of a He-111 and one of a Ju-52 lying on the side of the road. I was thrilled. That was back in the days of Franco.

I didn't mean to imply that the Chino museum is the best in the world. I am impressed by the fact that they have so many flying examples. I believe the Zero is the only flying example in the world. Are the examples at Sinnheim flyable? I would love to see the Sinnsheim museum. It sounds right up my ally. So many museum/battlefields, so little lifetime, though. Where is it located? And I still think that, from a presentation standpoint, the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola would be hard to beat.

The Confederate Air Force has some great flying examples too, I think they are working on a Fw190. They probably have more than Chino.

The Zero at Chino is one of at least 3 flying examples of the A6M, but it is the only one that has the original Sakai engine. The Commemorative Air Force (formerly Confederate) has a big collection, but it is scattered amongst many chapters worldwide. The Zero that was at Camarillo, and will return there after the tax deals go through, is part of the Southern California Wing. We also have a C-46 Commando, Spitfire Mk. XIV, PBJ (The only surviving PBJ airframe) in restoration, Hellcat, Bearcat, Yak-3, 2 SNJs and an I-16 on summer assignment.

One of the really cool things about Planes of Fame at Chino is the amount of aircraft that are not only flyable, but actually get flown regularly! The USAF Museum in Ohio is incredible, but they are all static. Yes, it is cool to go see them, but there is nothing like hearing the engines and smelling the exhaust.

The Royal International Air Tatoo is coming up. Strongly reccomend that anyone who can get there should. Takes loads of memory cards, a spare battery, or film AND HOPE THE WEATHER HOLDS.

Obviously there are a lot of people but its very well organised and you will be able to find somewhere to sit down and have a decent view.

I went to the last show and would like to see this one but right now, work may get in the way.
