Hmmm...Rostov-on-Don as a hostage gambit:

Video claiming to show Yevgeny Prigozhin inside Russia's southern military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don is circulating online. In the video Prigozhin says his troops will blockade the city and move on to Moscow unless defence chiefs Sergei Shoigu and Valery Gerasimov come to meet them.
"We have arrived here, we want to receive the chief of the general staff and Shoigu. Unless they come, we'll be here, we'll blockade the city of Rostov and head for Moscow," he says.

In separate footage posted to a pro-Wagner channel, Prigozhin is seen sitting between two generals, one of whom is Army Lieutenant-General Vladimir Alekseyev who had earlier posted a video urging the Wagner boss to stand down.

My initial thoughts on this are that Prigozhin has changed his tune because the "special operation" has failed miserably, causing him to back-peddle and rethink his position.
So, *if* he can consolidate his political position and oust Russian higher-ups and take their place, he'll insulate himself from the looming accountability for war crimes that PMC has committed.

His decision to attack the Russian leadership, from my perspective, is a gamble that has little chance of success.

But what a golden opportunity for Ukraine!
