There are any RF military forces between Moscow and Voronezh able to stop Wagner before them arriving there?

The VKS should be the obvious answer but the poor performance over Ukrainia (another context of course) doesn't invite optimism in its use.

January 10, 49 BC General Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon and began a civil war that would end the Roman Republic. He went directly to Rome with a smaller number of hardened veterans and easily won against more inexperienced troops.

Meanwhile, playing on Wagner's announcement that the invasion of Ukraine was a sham, Belarusian opposition leader asks her countrymen to kick out the Russians.

Interesting update from the BBC. Seems like money is at least one factor in this coup:

Yevgeny Prigozhin has now confirmed earlier media reports that a large amount of cash was found during raids on one of his offices by Russia's FSB security service.

And the money found in those raids does indeed belong to the Wagner Group, he says.

In an audio message on his Telegram channel, he refers to one van and two buses loaded with money.

He says these are the funds to cover compensation payments to killed Wagner fighters, and other expences.

"Wagner has been operating for the past 10 years using only cash - as agreed in our contract. I fully adhere to it," Prigozhin says.

He provided no details about the exact amount - but earlier Russian media outlets said 4bn rubles (£38m; $48m) had been discovered during a raid by the FSB on Prigozhin's office in the city of St Petersburg.

The Russian forces may get withdrawn from Belarus without any action by the people of that country. I can see Lukashenko pandering to the opposition by claiming that he kicked the Russian forces out.

If the Russians do leave, the deployment of nukes to Belarus May rank as one of the shortest strategic initiatives in history.

The Kremlin is clearly nervous.

To underscore this point:

More than 100 firefighters were in action at a fuel depot ablaze in Voronezh. Video footage obtained by Reuters showed it blowing up in a fireball shortly after a helicopter flew by. Prigozhin accused Russia's military of hitting civilian targets from the air as it tried to slow the column's advance.

They're nervous enough that they're destroying fuel supplies that might feed the column? If so -- that is admittedly a big "if" -- it implies that there's little in the way of ground forces to respond to the threat.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the village of Pyatikhatki in the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as seven other settlements. Charter97.org asked prominent Ukrainian military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko what strategic significance their release has:

– Pyatikhatki is a small village and it seems that it does not have much importance, but this is not quite true. The Russian occupation forces have always been considering Pyatikhatki as the main stronghold in the zone of their first defence line.

It is a quite fortified village, among other things, located directly on the 0812 highway. It is from this starting point that offensive operations can be launched in the direction of Vasiliyvka, a very important settlement, since Vasiliyvka is one of the peaks of the defence triangle of the Russian occupiers, namely Vasiliyvka-Tokmak-Melitopol.

I emphasize that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can be deployed along the 0812 highway either for offensive operations in the direction of Vasiliyvka, thereby shaking their defences in this triangle, or even better, not to go on a frontal assault at all, but thanks to Pyatikhatki bypass Vosiliyvka and encircle the entire Russian occupation troops there.

The village of Zherebyanki can also be used for this purpose. It is literally right next to Pyatikhatki. It's possible to move to the south and move either in a western or eastern direction. Several possible paths are opened up for cutting the logistics and surroundings of Vasiliyvka.

It is worth noting that the highest land point is located near Pyatikhatki and Zherebyanki. That's the dominant height from which you can cover with fire and control Vasiliyvka and all nearby villages.
