Relatives of mobilised Russians say the Ukrainians have inflicted huge casualties in their counter-offensive, with even lightly wounded Russians dying for lack of first aid. Food, water and ammunition is barely available and soldiers are not being rotated for months on end.

I wonder what 'pound of flesh' Erdogan got in return for getting out of the way?

Since cluster munitions have been shunned / banned why do so many countries still have them ?
Until precision GPS guided weapons were available much of NATO used cluster munitions. It was the best way to destroy formations of tanks, IFVs and dug-in infantry - as the Russians are about to find out.

For example, cluster bombs were a regular armament for the RAF's Harrier force in Europe until they were retired in 2007 when more effective weapons were available.
