Videos taken at the scene show a few artillery shells (looks like 122mm) lying on the ground several hundred meters from the explosion. It's possible a charges storage warehouse, or shell assembly/filling plant went kaboom.

Personally I prefer this excuse / explanation

According to Andrei Vorobyov, the governor of the region surrounding the Russian capital, the blast occurred at a warehouse storing fireworks, though it was on the grounds of the plant

Do they seriously expect anyone to believe them?

Nope. Their firecrackers must be awesome.
That's their story and they're sticking with it.

This should be a big worry to Zelenskyy as the AFU burns through the summer. Perhaps the days of being ultra careful with the lives of the AFU are over, and greater risks must be taken before Ukraine's supporters lose interest. When we think of how the Soviets beat the Germans in WW2 it wasn't through prudence, but through brute mass wave force, unfortunately at the cost of many lives, in this case from an Ukraine population that is both much smaller and more democratic than Stalin had to pull from. Will the Ukrainian gloves come off?

The people that write those articles have zero clues about tactics and conditions for applied force.
The bulk of their military knowledge comes from watching movies and when Ukraine mentioned an upcoming offensive, they were expecting something out of Apocalypse Now.

Ukraine has been applying steady and increasing pressure across the board, but at no point have they declared their offensive under way.

The media has declared it, the talking heads have declared it and Russia has done so, too. But how can an offensive be failing if it hasn't happened yet?

To requote the Ukraine MoD:
"you'll know it when you see it..."

Think about Overlord, and how it was so behind schedule until it broke open and suddenly got 40+ days ahead. This dispirit is a result of an immediate-gratification world. Well, you cannot Doordash or Grubhub a victory on the battlefield, with salsa on the side. But the uneducated don't understand that. The Ukrainians are chewing through defenses that are solid and densely mined.

There's a tipping-point ahead. And at that point Ukrainian reserves will be let loose.

As do those who decide or influence much of the West's policies on foreign military/economic aid, and especially those who pay the taxes that fund aid. Like it or not, the public will start demanding results in Ukraine akin to Hollywood BS. I can just envision General Milley of the Joint Chiefs of Staff telling the Congressional committees and White House press corps to just shut up and wait for the experts about tactics and conditions in Ukraine to get things done.

But some of the fault here comes from poor management of expectations. Both Washington and Ukraine told the world they were planning a big spring offensive.

So, where is it? The taxpayers could be expected to ask.

Polls chase headlines; 'twas ever thus.

Let's go back a year when we all woke up one morning and discovered that Ukrainian forces were on a rampage.

There was no warning, they just opened the gates and rode rough-shod all over the Russians.

Late this last winter, Ukraine announced that they were planning a spring offensive. Key word here: "planning".

Just the very mention created havoc in the Russian ranks. Whole groups deserting or surrendering. The rank and file in the Russian military started turning on each other.

And then Ukraine started probing and putting pressure along the front lines, causing Russia to shift their forces around, blow up a dam and more.

To me, Ukraine did that on purpose to rattle the Russians. And it worked remarkably well.

And there is no reason why Ukraine has to be confined to a certain time of year. They have proven to be very adept day or night, rain or shine.

We can hypothesize until the cows come home, but in the end, it'll be Ukraine that shows us all how it's done and they'll be teaching Ukrainian tactics in military academies evermore.

So I'll trust the source and know it when I see it.

So, where is it? The taxpayers could be expected to ask.

As it stands, the western nations that have committed funding for Ukraine, are into FY2024 budgets. So even *if* political sentiment shifts away from support to Ukraine, the money and material is committed through next year.

So texhnically speaking from that standpoint, Ukraine has 12 months to whip Russia's ass.

So we shall see.

Russian army pussing towards Kupiansk, the landing ship Olenegorsky Gornyak in dry dock, a ¿failed? ukrainian attack on another russian ship a some other things:

It looks like regardless of their reported incompetence, command issues and logistical problems, the Russians can still advance and seize Ukrainian cities all whilst holding back the AFU along a 800 km Siegfried Line. This is not the narrative the West's public and its more ignorant politicians and media expected.

To get back on topic, this is interesting...and in direct conflict to my earlier post about fears that Wagner thugs will infiltrate Polish territory. Seems like some Wagnerites are being moved from Belarus back to Russia. Reporting is sketchy at best so there may be more rumour than fact in all of this...however, I still thought it worth sharing:

To get back on topic,
Yes please! Thank you.
