As am I. Gerasimov is on the outside looking in as his offensive is stripped of troops and his HQ is sidelined, but all the same, Dyumin being a governor and confidant of Putin is no CV for fighting off a mobile offensive. This may -- repeat may -- allow Ukraine to feed this success, even if only by dribs and drabs. Or it may wind up being another static front.

If Dyumin wins out, Gerasimov looks the fool. If Dyumin loses, Putin will be under a lot more pressure.

Agreed 100%. Leadership of the Kursk defence efforts could well be a poison chalice .... Gerasimov might be quite happy to see a shambolic response to the Ukrainian offensive. Everyone in near-Vlad orbit will have their own agenda...plans within plans, etc.........

It's analogous to firing Halder, putting in Zietzler, and taking direct control of Army Group South thereafter. With Putin's own pupp, err, leader in charge, any failure will land in Red Square.

Happy to see a challenger fail, Gerasimov may well bog up the works to aid that. Or it may be that Putin wants to put an up-and-comer into a situation in order to maintain his own sinecure.

There's a reason why Russian dolls are ... wait for it ... from Russia, They nestle shit everywhere.
 
Just watched some vids at funker and Lord have mercy, WTF is wrong with Russian military SoP??

A Russian BMP did a hot dismount with it's troops literally 100 feet away from Ukrainian lines and they were instantly cut down. Some were even trying to run alongside the BMP for cover as it departed but couldn't keep up.

How the eff is this clownshow military even considered the world's #2 superpower??
