'US backstop' Ukraine's only defence against Russia says EU leaders
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said "a US security guarantee is the only way to effectively deter Russia from attacking Ukraine again".www.abc.net.au
Given the usual EU speed, I won't bet on it even if the weapons be in Ukrainian (if ever such thing occurs before 2100)
We're reliving Yalta Feb 1945, where the US and USSR (and an impotent UK) carved up Eastern Europe without consulting its inhabitants. Today, almost eighty years to the date, in 2025 we have the US and Russia (and an impotent EU) about to do the same to Ukraine (and likely Georgia and Moldova)."The leaders from the EU discussed the war in Ukraine, and that without a "US backstop" there is no chance for peace."
They are out of their little pea brained minds.
So long as the "Piece" talks are strictly between wildly expansionist leaders Trump and Putin and both the Ukrainians and Europeans are prohibited from being involved this is all about how the US and Russia will carve up Ukraine and each totally own and control their territories to their mutual benefit.
These discussions are between the two most expansionist leaders since WW2. Trumps stated plans plans for Gaza, Greenland, Panama and hinted plans for Canada and Mexico make Putins expansion plans look very tame.
Recent reports clearly show that to think that the US will provide a backstop against Russia is fallacious at best and totally delusional in reality.
The difference is that Ukraine is not out of the game like Poland was. We're reliving Yalta Feb 1945, where the US and USSR (and an impotent UK) carved up Eastern Europe without consulting its inhabitants. Today, almost eighty years to the date, in 2025 we have the US and Russia (and an impotent EU) about to do the same to Ukraine (and likely Georgia and Moldova).
Thank you for the clarification.Ukraine's constitution doesn't allow elections during times of martial law so Zelensky remains president until such time as they can be held.
In other words, as long as Russia maintains it's unlawful occupation of parts of Ukraine Zelensky remains the legitimate president. And while some rulers may declare an emergency to try and retain power I think everyone here can agree that this is a pretty legitimate state of emergency.
