Rubbish. NATO is not a club with membership fees with benefits based upon how much one pays. It is a collective defence pact which has an underlying basis of an attack on one is an attack on all. All benefit from this. Why Is that so hard to comprehend? All this sort of attack is doing is supporting Putin's desire to weaken or destroy NATO.

And what proportion of that US defense budget actually gets to Europe in terms of boots on the ground in support of NATO? Maybe 5% if you're lucky.

The US forces in Europe are tiny compared to those provided by our NATO allies, hence my comment earlier about the number of F-35s that the US has in Europe compared to those in service and being purchased by other NATO members.

I have no problem having a reasonable discussion but can we please base it in reality rather than false rhetoric?
 
Two opposition leaders (Poroshenko and Timoshenko) reacted immediately in Ukrainian media. They confirmed that the meetings did take place and were a part of normal regular communication on the levels of advisors, experts, members of Parliament meetings, etc. Both have announced (once again) that they focus on the nation's unity and consider elections impossible during the war.

Do you think the context of where and what that budget is spent on is important?

Why not indulge Buffnut and answer his question: And what proportion of that US defence budget actually gets to Europe in terms of boots on the ground in support of NATO?

(and out of interest and context again, how much bigger is the US economy than that of the UK or other European counties?)

You're making a false equivalency. How on earth can any nation stump up the same $ amount as the US when the countries are so much smaller?

We all agree Europe needs to spend more on defense. That's a no-brainer. Per an earlier post, most NATO members HAVE increased spending. It's not where it needs to be and we can argue about the speed with which budgets are increasing. However, it's a tad hypocritical of the US to demand European nations spend 5% of GDP when the US has actually DECREASED its defense spending relative to GDP over the past few years.

Robert Brodi (a.k.a Magyar). Former businessman and volunteer who began his war with a few Mavic drones in 2022. Today - the commander of the 414th Brigade of strike UAVs.
Subtitles are available in English, translation is so-so.

According to Magyar, the current influx of Russian troops is 30 to 35K men per month. At the same time, sanitary losses caused by Ukrainian UAVs are 20K per month. This figure is founded on the visual verifications, checked, filtered and compiled in the digital platform by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
Now, one can say: they always exaggerate the enemy losses, in each war... Probably, they do.
But Magyar explains that the claim data is uploaded only when there is a visual confirmation of the enemy personnel disabled. He gives an example: "if we see 10 persons entering the building and we strike the building but we don't see the bodies, we claim the building destroyed but we do NOT claim the enemy personnel killed."
He says: we (strike UAV forces) need to do better and increase the kill rate by 30% to balance the enemy's current mobilisation effort. If the enemy has a spare capacity, it will be dealt with by other tools of destruction, artillery, small fires, etc.

Well, I know full well how our constitutional republic works. The critique of his shameful abandonment of Ukraine has zero-point-zero to do with our Constitution. If you want to argue that he's bound by our system or Constitution to a certain course of action, cite the article and section of the Constitution you have in mind.
 

Lets not forget population as well.
