Sadly, I think you're probably correct in that assessmentI hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see a ceasefire and final settlement where Ukraine regains much of anything in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, let alone Luhansk and Donetsk. And forget about Crimea. Can anyone suggest a path where Ukraine regains any of this lost territory in an US-brokered settlement with Russia? Now that Russia has liberated Kursk, I expect Putin will agree to a ceasefire on the current frontlines and call it a victory.
I think it is even worse than that. A ceasefire of the sort hinted at will not only reward Putin/Russia for the illegal acts (incl war crimes), it will only pause things to allow Russia to regroup before attacking again. As multiple have said, Russia always breaks the deals!I hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see a ceasefire and final settlement where Ukraine regains much of anything in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, let alone Luhansk and Donetsk.
