Good riddance to himOne of the best russian generals is back at the front ..... commanding a Cannonfodder Bn. Due to his criticism of his higher command, notably Gerasimov, he's likely supposed to die in battle.
There are a number of bits of this that really stick in my throat. The major one is Trump saying that you shouldn't start a war with someone twenty times your size. The clear implication being that it was Ukraine who started the war.![]()

Damn, your right. I forgot that part.Yes, they started the war as soon as they resisted being conquered in a 3-day military operation.
My concern is that many of my neighbors to the south seem to genuinely believe this. The prevailing culture in the US right now feels increasingly focused on rejecting expertise and knowledge, in favor of populism and tribalism. It's troubling to see how these forces are shaping the discourse.Words fail me
I wonder if "who started the war" will be remembered in history as another political meme along with "who lost China", etc.
Ah, and the answer is clear. The one who was attacked, of course! So simple.
TASS in 1939 about the Soviet invasion of Finland:
"...the Finnish military clique has begun to indulge in revolting provocations, not stopping short of artillery fire upon our troops near Leningrad..."
"...the Soviet Government was compelled yesterday to declare that it now considered itself released from the engagements which it had undertaken under the Treaty of Non-aggression concluded between the USSR and Finland and which had been irresponsibly violated by the Finnish Government."
"...The foreign Press hostile to us declares that our action is aimed at seizing and annexing to the USSR Finnish territory. This is a malicious slander. The Soviet Government never did, and does not now, cherish any such intentions."

Visit deep south Louisiana. You will find the Acadians (Cajuns), many still speaking French and English with unique accent. Get back in the swamp and some still make their living as they have for decades. Great friendly folks who like their coffee STRONG.My family left Canada to emigrate to the U S in the late 1800s.
