My uninformed opinion is that the Russian military is spent. It is no threat militarily to NATO. Russia's real threat is its hybrid warfare.

Looks like a major new effort might be opening up in the sector. Russian forces have taken back some territory inside Russia which held by Ukraine for the last 7-8 months, and also made small advances over the border towards four or five Ukranian towns.

Reports are that the advance includes elements from Russian airborne forces as well as naval infantry (both [still] considered elite formations), supported by Akhmat 'Special Forces' and a couple of reserve/conscript Motor-Rifle formations.

Despite another 'cease fire' on the 28th, the attack seems to have been continuing uniterrupted for the last four or five days.
