Ukraine has also had great success with their Hind teams (usually teams of two) hunting and intercepting Russian drones.

The vid is not wrong - the A-10s rather low speed, long loitering time and good maneuverability makes this in theory an interesting Anti-Shahed platform. If it does not have an air search radar may negate many of the good aspects.

But the biggest bad aspect is the extended time that each crew member must take in conversion from whatever aircraft they are currently flying to the new type. Ukraine has a limited number of pilots and ground staff and putting newbies into/on to something like a Warthog may not be a good idea.

Does anyone here actually know how long A-10 training takes in the USA?
  • for crew?
  • for ground staff?

Another major issue is that adding the A-10 adds another type to carry spares for and all the logistical problems that go with that.

I like the aircraft but do not think it a good fit for Ukraine.
