I'm seeing some unofficial reporting that Belgium has withdrawn its objections to the European Commission's plan to transfer revenues from Russian assets to Ukraine.

Some €140 Billion of Russian assets are held by Euroclear, which is located in Belgium (hence why that country could dictate whether the funds could be used to support Ukraine).

Apparently, Belgium has overcome fears of legal risks and has agreed not to block the initiative. The reporting suggests Belgium was the last holdout, Germany, the UK, France, and the Netherlands gave their approval earlier. What's not clear is whether other EU members, like Hungary, Slovakia or Bulgaria, could still trip up the initiative, so maybe keep watching for further developments.

That said, I truly hope this is good news for Kyiv.

Tangentially related - if the Flygvapnet is starting to receive Gripen E/Fs, it will become easier for them to potentially donate some older C/D versions to Ukraine in a year or so:

Probably, it would be possible with someone like Deng, not with Xi.
