While not a huge step, this further complicates the Kremlin's decision-making. Do they dedicate more forces trying to continue to destabilize Transnistria, do they try to evacuate their forces, or do they just give up and let them wither on the vine?

Apparently 4 Russian ghost fleet oil tankers have been hit in the Black Sea. The vessels are named as the Delta Harmony (9408463) and Matilda (9407457), the Freud (9804461) and the Delta Supreme (9585895).

I'd LOVE to see more nations seizing and interdicting the ghost fleet. That would truly put Russia's economy under pressure.

I wonder if this is not US sharing intel with Ukraine as part of a wider plan? I've no problem with it in that sense.

Then again, why do these men believe anything they're told? "Pay me 3K and I'll ensure you don't have a combat role"…and they believed her?

I'm just shaking my head (yet again) at human avarice and folly.

In WW2 there was a case where a con man placed adverts saying that if you wanted to avoid conscription, for a fee he would let you have a guaranteed method of avoiding the call up. A good number of people fell for this and paid the fee, to find by return that the advice was to Volunteer first.

He was cleared of obtaining money by deception, as the advice would work, but was guilty of other charges. There was no sympathy for the people who had paid him the money.
 
Here in Aus during covid there was one woman, not a doctor, in or near Brisbane who sold hundreds of false covid medical exemption certificates (for persons who were unable to wear masks due to breathing difficulties) for $1,000 each.

She was fined $7,000.
