America is now widely seen as blackmailer, extortionist, totally untrustworthy and totally lacking any cohesive policy other than screw the rest of the world. except for Russia and North Korea. The majority of allies consider that North Korea being tariff free while allies South Korea and Taiwan are hit with 15% and 20% respectively, and Russia getting away with 10% tariffs while most other countries are on 15% or more, to be a clear indication of those who the US administration respect and honour and consider equals.
The U.S. isn't just hurling tariffs at random nations, but rather adjusting offsets.

I learned a bit about it in the early 2000's when our company was dealing with two-way telecom imports and exports across the globe.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) keeps updated stats annually, here is 2024's report:

"Adjusting offsets" that every other US administration has considered equitable and/or to the USA's overall benefit so that these offsets only damage the countries that the US is officially allies with but not "adjusting offsets" against Russia and North Korea. Simultaneously damaging the US economy and destroying the rest of the worlds belief that the US was a stable trading partner that could be trusted to honour commitments. So yes you are right The U.S. isn't just hurling tariffs at random nations, it is mainly hurling them against allies and not hurling any at the administrations personal heros.

On July 14 Trump promised to slam Russia with 'severe' 100% tariffs if no Ukraine deal is made in 50 days. We are now up to day 46 and the US administration has not even whispered of any new "adjusted offsets" against Russia. The only actions have been to be nice to Putin and to severely criticise Ukraine for damaging Russian fuel and rail assets and the Russian economy.

Hell there is even a 1970's song about this.

So aparently you did not take the time to view the WTO report?

I had looked at it but cannot read the print when the double page spreads take the full wide screen and it lacks meaningful interpretive instructions so I gave up.
Things like below might as well be written in Kanji by a drunk peasant who does not read or write Kanji.

This is gold to someone with economics training but to me it means as much as instructions on how to carry out a powerplant build on a CF6-80C2 would mean to an economist.
