Surely Russia knows that the Mi-8 and Mi-24 have countermeasures that would divert the Shahed's A2A missiles and once the helps have evaded, will be free to take out the drone.

The Mi-24 especially, has advanced options to block A2A, like engine heat dissipation.

European leaders have reportedly expressed fears about the Trump administration using peace negotiations to "betray" Ukraine as the country seeks to end its nearly four-year war with Russia.

During a conference call on Monday, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron raised concerns about the talks being led by U.S. envoys, according to a leaked transcript obtained by the German outlet Spiegel.

"There is a possibility that the U.S. will betray Ukraine on the issue of territory without clarity on security guarantees," Macron said, according to an English transcript of the call.

The French leader also reportedly said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was in "great danger."

Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who's touted strong relations with President Trump, shared similar sentiments, urging Zelensky against trusting the White House to influence peace negotiations.

"We mustn't leave Ukraine and Volodymyr alone with these guys," he said at one point during the conversation, according to Spiegel.

Rutte, who has met with Trump at the White House about Ukraine and other matters, chimed in, stating, "I agree with Alexander; we must protect Volodymyr," as written in the transcript.

I'm glad y'all on the other side of the pond are thinking this through. Our administration here certainly isn't.
