US/NATO COMINT & HUMINT recently reported the following:

Russian number of dead is in the high-500,000 range, and may have reached 600,000. The exact number is difficult to ascertain, as the Russian high command stopped reporting - or even keeping track of the number of dead internally - beginning in the late-spring of 2025. Deaths are reported openly only when there is no option of not mentioning them, while most families are learning of their dead only when reported by returning soldiers or through informal military or civilian organizations. The Russian high command originally tried to discourage even the reports by fellow soldiers, but gave up trying to stop them as it was not feasible.

There are several points of serious concern re the Russian military and economy:

Train transport of bulk goods is increasingly problematic to perform reliably, partly due to maintenance issues and partly due to reduced numbers of engines and rolling stock. It is reported that most bulk transport by train is almost 2 months behind schedule. This in combination with shortages of fuel (despite the pre-war volume of oil produced and refined by Russian industry) is causing transportation difficulties involving many basic necessities, including fuels of all types, other bulk chemicals and solids, and food. Significant increase in transportation of bulk goods is being shifted to road vehicles, but since there is a shortage of heavy trucks much of the increase is being performed by smaller vehicles such as panel vans, panel trucks, and even pick-up trucks and minivans.

Shortages/rising costs of fuels for the average person have been noticeable for about a year and are increasing, while the shortages/rising costs of some foods have been noticeable for about 6 months and are increasing. This is all also adding to the already high rate of inflation and increasing the daily cost of living.

Moscow and port cities (other than on the Black or Caspian Seas) are the only cities where all bulk goods can now be reliably obtained. Most daily staple foods are readily available in the farming areas where they are produced, and there is no starvation reported in Russia yet.

An increasingly large segment of the commercial and military/industrial sector is running on IOUs - causing uncertainty and alarm amongst the banks and remaining oligarchs.

It appears that the Russians are starting to run low on Anti-Aircraft Guided Missiles. It is no longer possible to extend AA coverage to additional military installations or manufacturing facilities, and in fact decisions are having to be made as to what is critical to defend, leaving all else undefended.

Recent reports on reasons for 'cracking down' on Telegram appear to be largely subterfuge. Part of the suppression of Telegram is actually due to the increasingly large amount of 'subversive' content, and part is due to an attempt to mask the inability to maintain the large network - due to shortages of spares and trained personnel.
