An OSS agent posing as a civilian was captured by the German Gestapo in Italy in WWII. The Gestapo officer and his driver put the agent in the back seat of their car and set out for the local Gestapo HQ, even as the agent continued to protest and assert his innocence. Along the way the Gestapo officer told the driver to pull over at a building so he could call ahead to the HQ and make sure a certain interrogation specialist was there and ready to meet their new prize "civilian" captive.

The OSS had devised a special weapon designed to take advantage of the watch pocket that many US made trousers featured but that was unknown in Europe. It was a Pen Gun, a single shot .22 that was sized to fit in a watch pocket in such a manner as to evade detection in a pat down. It was fired by pulling up a lever that cocked the firing pin and then letting go.

When the Gestapo officer went in to make the phone call the OSS Agent pulled out his pen gun, pointed it at the back of the driver's neck, and killed him. Then he swiped the car and made it back to Allied lines.

But it was not over for the Gestapo. The driver did not know the location of the new HQ and so the officer had to give him directions. The OSS agent took note of that data Later that day the Allies bombed the Gestapo HQ.

I hope they got that interrogator.
