What aircraft was the first production type to have bullet-proof windscreen or armor glass?
Was the F4F Wildcat the first U.S. Production type to have it designed in?

Earliest I know of is the Hurricane and Spitfire. Production from early August 1939 on were fitted with armoured windscreens.

According to "The First Team" the Wildcats did not get armor glass, pilot armor nor self sealing tanks until after Pearl Harbor. Kits for these items were shipped out to Pearl shortly after the start of the war for the Wildcats already in the fleet. New builds of course, had these factory installed.

If they were shipped out just after the start of the war, did they sit in storage for the more than 2 years until Pearl Harbor?

LOL, good one, ok start of the PACIFIC war.
