I'm the author of several historical fiction and non-fiction works. As the headline says, I'm seeking help on WW2 Coastal Command Beaufighter operations, organisation, etc.

Right now, I'm most concerned to find the procedure for evaluating a convalescent pilot after a crash, and assessing if he's fit to return to duty. In this case, he's judged unfit to fly, but returns to his squadron as an Intelligence Officer. Would he be assessed by a doc or a board? Offered other postings? Tips please!
