The B-17 and C-47 have wheels that protrude out of the wings when they are retracted. This aids in the event of belly landings.

3 of my favorite aircraft. I'm sucker for low wing radial engined aircraft. I think other "birds of a feather" like the TBD just have that look.
The A-10 is just way cool.
