Hi group,

I got this gear/magneto part from a B17G that crash landed on Samsoe Denmark 9th of Oct. 1943.

I have read through manuals for the B17G plane and Wright R-1820-97 engine but I'm not able to identify which part of the plane it came from

I'm not a plane expert so figuring I'm looking at the wrong engine model?

Does any know from the part number?
37A CX76755 (2/1)
37A CX76765/1

Description here: Plane 237 B17 42-37718 - Alstrup, Samsø

The "37A"number indicates a part of a magneto. IMHO it could be the distributor gear.
Thank you Wurger :)
Do you know which engine type that would be? Then I could look it up in the parts catalog

IMHO the first thing you should find has to be the magneto type but not the engine. And then match the device to the engine. Any other markings , pressed factory stamps there?
