Very cool info Yves. I have yet another mystory on that Tokeyo Jo though as I just saw it. I can't see it in the photo you posted as too dark but I enlarged the nose of the picture I had posted. Remember our small window and the downward 30 caliber ball adapter. This one looks like it might have a down facing camera or something protruding from the plexiglass.

It still amazes me how much history has been lost through the years just on this one aircraft type. Makes a person wonder how much history lost just on all the aircraft of WWII.

Thoughts?

Heading to bed now but not sure how much sleep I will do since I just saw this. Man I got a ton of notes to update too LOL.

Have a nice dream! I think it's just a patch over the opening for the standard 0.30 gun, which cannot be used anymore, after adding the fixed 0.50 and the flexible 0.50. These were in the first mods with fixed 0.50 in the nose. The gun is in LOWER POSITION, not in the usual higher one. There wouldn't be enough space for a camera there. Here's the mod in the Fairfax (Kansas) factory. I believe Tokyo Jo is a B-25D and was sent to CBI with this mod. The belly hatch etc. is a local mod though.

The patch over the lower window and the steel plate for the flexible gun are factory mods of oldest B-25D (no block#).
For comparison only - a B-25C/D with the standard factory fixed gun in higher position. No patch over lower window and no provisions for flexible 0.30 in the nose.

Cheers!

Interesting mod but what was it for?

Thanks Wojtek and Yves, you pictures are definitely clearer than mine and agree with the patch. Keep forgetting about those LOL. I think this weekend I need to spend a bunch of time updating notes LOL.

The narrative is a BS. The Battle in the Bismark Sea, March 1943 is known for the use of modified B-25 Mitchells. Those were the 4-GUNS-NOSE planes, modified in Australia, known as Pappy Gunn's strafers.
The 8-guns-nose (J2) is a factory design and is a kit to be installed on ANY B-25, thus many B-25G and B-25D having them. The first part of the video shows B-25G with the canon and has nothing to do with the text behind. The original movie which was used is called B25-G Bombers w 75MM M4 Cannon on a Combat Mission WW2 USAAF Aerial Action Footage.
Those pseudo-historical videos with a robotic voice behind, using some footage loosely based on the topic are a No-No!
Put them in the thread "AI failed again".

Shout ALLELUIA brother Preach it!!!!

Agreed on your critiques, but I believe the script is written by a human.

At any rate, I'm all caught up on UHotPW and Drachinifel, and was bored.

I clicked the "don't suggest this channel again" earlier today on this channel. You are right. If you hit the "mute", it's got some cool stuff!
