Good day all,
I am in process of building a scale model of the SBD-3 that LTJG Norman Kleiss of VS-6 attached to the USS Enterprise during the Battle of Midway flew. I know that the side of his aircraft had the black "S7" and had two white stripes on the tail. But I am not able to find anywhere the Bureau Numbers of the SBDs used by VS-6. I can find the information for VB-6 that was led by Lt Best but not VS-6. Does anyone know this information or where it can be found.
Thanks

The BuNo for VS-6's SBD-3 6-S-7 "Black 7" of Kleiss/Snowden was 4659.
Great, thanks for that! Do you mind where you found that? I had found previously the aircraft that were lost by BuNo but nothing specifically to the aircraft assigned number by the squadron or who was flying it.

Thanks for the information, much appreciated

The BuNo for VS-6's SBD-3 6-S-7 "Black 7" of Kleiss/Snowden was 4659.

I too would be interested in the source for this. My information has Kleiss in (S-) 7 or (V-S-) 7, but BuNo 3232 (see attached). In the info I have BuNo 4659 is not listed as being on any of the carriers at Midway.
TIA

Oops, my bad!
BuNo 4659 was VS-5's SBD-3 5-S-17 "Black 17" of Larson/Gardner.
Sorry to bug again, but can you pls double-check the BuNo 4659? Again, that BuNo does not appear anywhere in my midway info. VS-5 as I have it is attached. BuNos appear complete, a/c codes not.
If 4659 is correct, can you pls tell me where that comes from?
Thanks
