Rather strange that the BBMF web-site doesn't even mention the grounding, or any indication of problems. The only 'hint' being a display schedule reading Spitfire Mk.XIX only.

Just seen this on BBMF official Facebook page. Looks like it was the reduction gearbox and it's being sorted. Hopefully airborne soon.
Goodevening all a quick update on our Merlin issue. Today we received five serviceable reduction gearbox assemblies back from Retro, Track & Air and with their assistance all five were fitted four on the Lancaster and the other on PZ865 and as you can see the rebuild is progressing well at the moment. Look out for another update tomorrow evening. Paul B

Thanks for the up-date - great news !
I'd noticed that the flying line-up for the Duxford airshow on Sept 23rd and 24th still includes the BBMF Lanc and 'fighters' (DX are normally quick to delete those 'acts' from their list which can not attend), so hopefully they'll be back on line by then.
