Hi everyone,

I'm working on a concrete parking pad and hangar flooring for small aircraft and want to make sure it's built to handle the weight and long-term use.

Since aircraft require smooth, durable, and level surfaces, I'm looking for the best concrete mix and reinforcement methods to prevent cracking and surface wear over time.

Has anyone here worked on aircraft hangars or outdoor concrete pads? What's the recommended concrete thickness and reinforcement for supporting small planes? Also, are there any specific surface treatments or sealers that help with fuel and oil resistance?

Looking forward to your insights

So was I before retiring but free engineering is not my bag. You did not say where this would be but a proper pad depends on soil conditions, compaction, site drainage, and freeze/thaw presence. You also said "pad and hangar flooring" so are you supporting a hangar structure on the floor?

Maybe you'll get some input here but I would recommend that you find a qualified engineer or paving contractor in your locale to design this properly.

Don't ask me about the helicopter landing pad I built.....in the dark.....with love.....lasted one season and now under nine metres of water, thank you very much
