Helps to be able to land not needing the Skills of Eric Brown?may we consider He-162 to be in the running?
Eric Brown was touching down at 105mph.Helps to be able to land not needing the Skills of Eric Brown?
That speed has never been reached in the flight...2. The maximum speed of the IS-2 was higher (588 vs. 550 kph).
IS-2 made four test flights, but you are right - seems, that the maximum speed was not measured. I saw a value of 593 km/h for estimated top speed in one source, so I assumed 588 km/h were achieved in flight, but this has not been confirmed by more reliable sources. I apologize for the inaccurate information. That speed has never been reached in the flight...
Add the Arsenal-Delanne
Add the Arsenal-Delanne AD-10... Possibly the fastest (except for the IS-4) and most versatile....

All well documented in time honored publications.
It has to do with disruption of the air flow over the wing root making it look stupid.Does anyone understand why parasol / top wing seemed to often impede speed / performance in WW2 aircraft? or is it just a coincidence?
And look cool doing it.Well if it had made it to real hardware this Boeing late 1970's proposal could have easily been the best...
