Smogged out California 305 V8. (V-6 most of the time and not by design.). Wonky electrics (think Lucas but 'Murican). T-tops, NEVER AGAIN.

Rob my 1st new car was a 79 Formula Firebird, 301 V8, 4-speed manual trans, it was a good car that I put over 130k miles on, but it was very very slow with its 2.42 posi rear axle, but it did get almost 30mpg on the highway at the then mandated 55 mph speed limit. Bought it after the oil crissis and it was a left over previos year model, got a great deal on it as it was a V8 and the salesman admitted he could not sell anything with a V8 at that time. The Pontiac 301 V8's have a bad reputation, but the one I owned ran well and was still running with the 130K miles on it, but was burning and leaking oil by that mileage.
As for Rockfords Firebirds, I prefer the 73 or 74 versions of the car, I recently saw what I think was the end for the 73 on an episode of Emergency, a gold 1973 Firebird was flipped over on a Movie lot with 2 actors trapped inside, it did not end well for the Firebird.
