This airplane is going to Europe to celebrate the WW2 victory. I had not realized that last year 17 vintage airplanes flew from the US to Europe to celebrate the anniversary of D-Day.

Now THAT is interesting. Never saw an R4D (?) in the Atlantic scheme. Wonder if it's authentic?

Yeah, what would be the idea of doing that? What were they trying to hide from? On the other hand, the military does some nutty stuff in the interests of being "uniform."
