Hey,all!
Finally got up and personal with this historic bird at Worcester airport in Massachusetts. It's sort of the home base for a lot of their fighters that don't regularly fly the tour, to my knowledge at least. Unfortunately the weather was cloudy all day so not the best day for pixs. Still, no rain so...
The sign has all the history of this A/C. Hope all you 40 lovers enjoy!
If you guys like these I've pixs of the other A/C that were there.

Thanks. Never was able to get close before for the detail shots, even with the zoom. Pretty cool about being a Pearl survivor.
Really poor day to take pixs though. The F4U was really shiny even in 10/10 cover.
Also present were a F4U-5NL, A-36,Sptifire IX, and Navy Skyraider. Plus the usual tour birds except for the B-17 which is stuck in NH with engine problems...

Nice shots! Must have been nice to see it outside! Here are a few shots I made of the airplane at New Smyrna Beach.

It was! Wish it had been a better day weather wise. Still haven't seen here fly though. :(
How did you get your shots?

In April 2016 they had an open house at American Aero, an outfit at New Smyrna Beach that does a lot of restoration work and works on the Collins airplanes before they do their annual tour. It was raining, so the P-40B was inside. The airplane had been wrecked there in 2015 when the tailwheel started shimmying badly. I don't know how long it had been repaired at the time I saw it.

By the way, I assume that the hole in the right wing root is for cockpit fresh air.

They had some other unusual airplanes there as well. You know, back in the 60's when I was building models of those airplanes I'd have never have believed I'd be looking at a P-40B and a B-25H.

Dreams sometimes come true. You just have to live long enough to see them...
