The gerat number might very well not have to be from a Do 217.

Fritz Leitz established his own company in 1938 to produce parts, assemblies, and units for aircraft. Albert Leitz Jr. maneuvered the family business through the war years.

also just been comfirmed by by someone who has attended Do 17 and 217 digs
that my tag is off landing gear
he has made me a offer on it
which i will consider
Regards

The Gerat Nr would normally be preceded by a number 8 for an airframe component, or another number as applicable.
In this case, with the clear Dornier plate and the sub-contractors details, I suggest that it possibly is from a Do 217 airframe Gerat, particularly numbered 8-217.234-04 . The Werk Nr seems to be low (243 E 2), suggesting that it is a fairly individual part.
Further exploration really needs the correct Do 217 Ersatzteilliste, possibly for the E2 version?

Part number 8.217.234-04.
Werk.Nr - the factory number of the part
First-Class information Woodhaven!
Superb post of the correct part 8-217.234-04, which is assembly 15 consisting of components 16 to 30 inclusive, with some multiple parts. The assembly (Gerat) is a part of the shaft that controls or indicates the tailwheel position.
