I decided to join my first GB with an old model that was a gift from one of my oldest childhood friends. I usually focus on the Eastern Front concept so it encouraged me. This is the 1983 Airfix Bf 109F-4. It was in a box without a cover and even though some parts were cut out of the sprues but they were all there. I enjoy building old vintage models. I guess, it is a nostalgic thing. I remember building this one when I was probably in middle school. Let's hope I do a much better job this time.
I will try to build it to depict Hermann Graf's aircraft on May 15, 1942. My inquiry about this machine can be found on this thread.
So I started to work on the instrument panel and the cockpit (sides of the fuselage). They were airbrushed with Vallejo 70.866 Grey Green (RLM 66 equivalent). Then, I played on the instrument panel with my daughter's artist markers (Faber Castell & Tombow). It turned out to be OK but not great, of course. Anyway, it will not be that much visible once the canopy is placed. I also painted the sides with brush, looking at a cockpit diagram for colors. I am happy with the result.
Thank you all very much! Your are very kind. So, I am almost done with the cockpit. I put the seat and weathered it a bit. Silver pencil was helpful too.
Instrument panel and the seat were attached to individual fuselage sides. Ready to put them together...
Thank you all! I spent the weekend putting together the fuselage, the wings, and the canopy. After some masking, I sprayed first black and then white Vallejo surface primer on the kit. I also decided to order the Eaglecal #64-48 in case I run into some problems with decals.
