My entry is a Korean war bird. It sometimes feels like that conflict was forgotten about as it was so close to the end of WW2 so I've opted for an F-51D. The Airfix kit builds into a nice replica of the Mustang and I'm looking forward to getting started.

Plenty of options for ordnance etc.

Thanks folks

I've made some progress on my bird. All out of the box using Airfix 's colour call outs, which I see from the other ongoing builds is not entirely accurate .

Anyway here's what I have so far..

Cockpit assembled and painted. There's a few cockpit wall decals still to add which adds a bit of interest but mostly I'm close to buttoning it up.

More progress soon...

Thanks everyone

Here is my latest update on the Airfix F-51D. Generally speaking it's went together well. I'm reasonably happy with the build although there has been some issues most likely caused by my over enthusiasm for progress.

I know Vic and Bill are building the Airfix kit and are already likely aware that if you stray from the build sequence or are a bit sloppy with fitting (like I have been) there will be "consequences". I had quite a problem closing the fuselage and I have narrowed it down to this bit...

Stages 16b to 18b need to be precise. I had big gaps in the tail section on the underside which required a lot of sanding of the internal construction to allow a more reasonable amount of filling. Just something to be aware of if your doing this one.

So a bit of filling required in places as you may see in the shots below. Again I think this is as much my fault as the kits rather fussy build up. Nevertheless I am enjoying it and looking forward to the painting stage.

Thanks for looking, cheers Greg
