. Got them on and this build is one with history. I find it amusing? puzzling? that the stripes are oriented differently than P-51s from just a few years past. Was it someone new in charge; were they not effective, don't know. Any Air Force vets with an opinion?

No answer for you but they were on the second XP-82 so the reversal was from the get-go
