Hi all , still finding my way around this great site . Sorry for commenting on and old site again . I came across the picture in post #200 [ page 10 ] . I have seen this picture somewhere before , but I believe this is a still from the 1954 movie " The Dambusters " . I couldn't find a caption to the picture . And the translation from German didn't give any information other than the page doesn't exist anymore . If however it turned out to be an original photo taken during the dams attacks [ I'm dreaming ] it would be an astounding find . It looks very much like the movie scene where they are testing the altimeter lights for the first time . Interesting that , as grainy as the picture is , the bottom of the tail fins ( rudders ) do look very rounded - as against the longer rudder trim tabs used on the later build Lancaster .
