F-14 Tomcat in 1/48?

Just a question out of curiosity here, after lazy surfing on the net.... Is the Hasegawa 1/48 F-14 Tomcat that much better than Academy, Italeri, Revell and the latest one (I think) MASTERCRAFT to deserve that much more in price?

I would just buy one of the lest costly ones, you can always scratchbuild stuff, and it won't cost you that much money.

Don't know the differences between them or quality, but the Hasegawa kit I HAVE seen and it is very good!

I just remembered, we have the Revell one downstairs, half built. I can post pictures of it if you'd like. My brother started on it years ago, but lost interest. He also has a completed one. A friend bought the second one for him for his birthday, but didn't know he already had one.

Here you go Jan! I know the paint scheme isn't correct as some F-86 decals got added among other things . It was built a long time ago, so no seams or anything are filled, which is almost better so you get an idea of where problem areas might be. My dad said it went together well, and that all in all it wasn't a bad model at all. Will it be as good as the Hasegawa one? Well, if my F-18 is any indication, no, the Hasegawa one will be superb. But is it bad? No, not at all. It's a mix of raised and engraved panel lines by the way. The cockpit (from what I can see) seems pretty good too. I'll take a look at the incomplete one after.
